Here lies Wile E. Coyote;

Loyal consumer of Acme Industry.

Reading that company’s technical writing,

Once he painted signs which led

The Roadrunner away from a friendly path

Of safety, social protection.

Now this dead beast has offered

His last Roadrunner bad directions,

Or poison bird seed,

Or directed it to take heed

And take yet another deadly, dangerous detour

Into the flat land of a never-changing cartoon horizon.

One too many times, Mr. Wile E. Coyote

Disappeared into that puff

Or cloud of dust or western smoke.

Plunging like a terrorist to ignite Acme dynamite.

Going west dying in a cartoon land

Of once radioactive prickly-pear cactus.

That coyote had it all worked out.

His death now is so sad because too many

Anvils have now concussed his sole skull too many times.
