With only two games left of the season, the softball team is eyeing for first place in the region. The Lady Diamondbacks will play at home against Coronado today and will face Basic on Wednesday to wrap up the regular season.

Coming into the season, the team’s expectations were high because of the so many returning players.

“This year we had eight seniors on our varsity team and my expectations were mainly on having a good last season for our seniors,” said Jasmine Ramirez, varsity player.

After practicing for hours on end, the girls have succeeded in making it in the top three of their region. These girls have the potential to push themselves and grow to make D.O. proud.

“We have 2 games left and hopefully we can make it to #1 in our region, which would be first in our school’s history,” said Mr. Connell, the softball coach.

To analyze the thought of the players of this season, it may have been well and got their adrenaline pumping; however, the team wishes they were able to pull through more wins and work on a lot more skills far more not only for themselves but as well as benefiting the team as a whole. This season contained not only sentimental memories but as well as realizing what is need to be improved.

“This year our softball team has worked super hard and with the losses, and wins we always come together as a strong team and never been better,” says Danielle Oyama, JV player.

Overall, this season brought out the strengths and weaknesses of each player. Though, D.O. will be cherry endlessly for support. Good luck to our girls and D.O. hopes you will be able to be number one in the region, making our school proud.
