In case you missed it, since it happened so fast, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, Conor McGregor made his comeback defeating Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone with a knockout in just 40 seconds of the first round. He studied his opponents techniques, trained to overpower, and made his intentions clear; he’s here to win.

What I was hoping for was a respectful, but long, bloody fight. Instead, what all UFC fans witnessed, was a powerful shoulder straight to Cerrone’s face. Not only once, but three or four times. It was smart, it was planned, it was all strategy.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is more than just a good fighter, he’s a stand up kind of guy, but McGregor didn’t anticipate on just having some fun in the octagon, he wanted everyone to know that he’s back and better than before.

I think I can speak for the majority and say we were shocked to witness the tko 40. When Dana White interviewed McGregor at the end of the fight, he said he was coming back with new strategies. Clearly he spent his time out of the octagon preparing and while it’s only his first fight back, his preparation has all ready paid off.

I enjoy watching both of these fighters, but it’s exciting to see how much farther McGregor is going to go.
