On February 13th, the Lady Diamondback  basketball team had a blowout win over Coronado 74-33 in the first round of the state playoffs.  The Diamondback defense held strong all game only allowing 12 points in the first quarter and single digit scoring the rest of the game. The team also had great ball movement that led to a balanced scoring attack with four ladies scoring in double digits.

“We simply move better than them. No questions asked,” said Desi’rae Young.

The ladies were more dominant on both sides of the ball. They played better as a team rather than trying to make things work as individuals. This big win gives them good momentum coming into the big game against Bishop Gorman next week.

“The girls and I have our A game on. We go into a game with heavy confidence and bring pressure. We know how to win a game, even when the game itself isn’t gonna be easy,” Young expressed.

The girls have risen to second in the state and 243 in the country. They’ve had a dominant season winning over 20 games with only two losses.
